Hey everyone! We just wanted to announce that the "Home improvement" update for "Oh Deer, Someone's Home" is now live. The door leading to Plaine's basement has been replaced with a laundry room on the same level, we added more flavor text when interacting with parts of the environment, and trying to interact with the door in Plaine's dining room presents a full-screen image similar to what's shown in Plaine's bedroom when interacting with her desk.

Unfortunately, the only thing that is missing at this point is the music. While we believed that we could make the music in Audacity, it wound up being too much trouble for little payoff, so we're going to keep the placeholder music in until we have the money to afford Ableton. Our team has been going through financial struggles even after the game was released, so we're sorry for not using the money that has been collected in order to actually develop the game to completion. We do still intend to update the game further in the future, as needed.

However, now that the only things that the game is missing is its soundtrack, we intend to start on our next project soon. We'll release further information as it becomes available, but we're interested to see how things will go with releasing a slightly bigger (yet still self-contained) game will go. We're excited to see where we're going to go from here, and we thank you for all of the support that you've given us!

Happy Halloween! Its been a while since “Oh Deer, Someone's Home” has come out, and we thank everyone who has downloaded the game and played it. We intend to keep getting the soundtrack implemented, but we decided on a pretty major change that warrants an announcement: Version 2, which we’re calling the “Home Improvement” update.

The biggest change in the home improvement update is that we're filling in Plaine's basement, and turning the old stairwell into a laundry room that the stalker can hide in. The basement had been a sticking point in development, since the stairwell acts like a bottleneck for the stalker and had trapped them in the basement before, but it was decided to replace it with the laundry room so that the stalker has an even more active presence. We're also planning to add more artwork that was supposed to be included in the base launch (like the image you see when you interact with Plaine's desk in her bedroom), but which were cut to prevent burnout, adding more (and more varied) decorative objects in Plaine's house, adding more environmental flavor text, and adding two songs: “Storm,” the song that will play during the actual gameplay, and “Missing You,” a remake of the game over song “Missing.”

The home improvement update is expected to be released before Bec’s birthday, on November 21st.

"Oh Deer, Someone's Home" is finally out of the alpha stage, and we're onto publishing betas! There's still a lot of work that needs to be done going into v0.2, I want to have my private testers send me back videos of their gameplay and give me feedback through text (on top of all of the sprites that still need to be drawn), but I'm excited to finally get out of the bulk of the work I needed to do just to get to a finalization stage!

I'm stepping down from active game dev, with Abyssal Grail being put on hiatus. Getting back into writing has made me recapture my love for it, and I think that the amount of effort game dev solo requires is part of why I keep not finishing anything.

I hate to announce this, but Abyssal Grail is on hiatus. Its been getting way too complex visually for me to keep it as "my first game," so I'm going to work on something smaller in the meantime. Something meant to mock myself, and my standards for game design.

I suppose that you could call it Project Silly.

Is it depressing or not that I've spent an entire year developing an incredibly short game at this point, and yet have nothing to share for its first anniversary in development?

I've now hit my 25th anniversary on Being Alive today.

I already have plans for 3 drawings for October, but I wanted to ask my audience which of my characters would be good for a potential fourth drawing.

So, open poll: Which characters would you like to see drawn for Halloween? (not including Kabo or Abyssal Grail characters)

It's not a big secret that my art production has been incredibly slow for the past few months, so I figured that I would explain why things have been behind. Beyond just continuing to chip away at Abyssal Grail, there have been some real life factors behind my low production rate.

My job tends to put parts of the factory on overtime, resulting in 10 hour days and working Saturdays, if that area is behind on producing units. We've been steadily chipping away at that, but we've also been on overtime for the past 2 and a half months. And, while that wouldn't normally stop me, I just got sick on Friday and have been feeling like utter shit even on my days off. Thankfully my car is fixed, so I'm not relying on others for transportation, but things are still very much in a "bad" situation.

I'm going to keep trying to work on things, but I probably won't get anything publicly posted throughout August unless I make something with that express purpose.

So, for a brief explanation of what happened, on March 7th me and my roommate were spontaneously forced out of our apartment for 2 days because the neighbor above us decided that messing around with the sprinkler system was a good idea. Both our ceiling and our floor are still badly water damaged, the apartment constantly reeks, and part of the walls are destroyed, but we're alive, and thankfully nothing we personally own was destroyed besides some food left out from dinner.

I'm still trying to get back into the mood for drawing, and I do have something planned for later today as just a quick piece, but since I was already suffering from a depression-induced hiatus I'm still not fully confident in drawing "serious" pieces. Just note that I do have stuff planned, including stuff of Diddsy and Scarvisha, but for now I'm going to just take it slow.
