Should I make a stream safe version of "Oh Deer, Someone's Home," so that way people can show gameplay to people on websites that don't allow for even softcore pornographic games (such as Twitch or YouTube)?

I had thought about making one even before the game was released, but I'm debating on making it if I'm seriously going to end the game's development with this last update. (Minus bug fixes and such)

I've recently become aware of pedophilia allegations against one of the voice actors for Billie Bust-Up, namely the voice actor for Barnaby, and how the development team has handled the situation. This is a very awkward situation for me, because I not only backed the project on Kickstarter, but have drawn multiple pieces of fan art for the game and its characters. I'm writing this in order to make my stance clear, since I imagine that people might assume that I endorse the game and the actions of its creators if I don't.

I do not stand with the developers behind Billie Bust-Up, and how they have tried to dismiss the case against the voice actor for Barnaby. Pedophilia is wrong, regardless of sexuality or identity, and the decision by the team to stand behind the voice actor is extremely irresponsible. I imagine that their decision was at least partially enforced by the amount of work that would need to be redone in order to hire a new voice actor, especially given how Barnaby quickly became one of the most popular characters for the game, but that doesn't excuse defending the voice actor's actions. I remember back when the developers would ban pedophiles from the Discord server for stating having a sexual interest in Billie, so seeing them turn around and defend the voice actor is an insane double standard.

I am going to leave my fan art up, both to prevent the pieces from becoming lost media and to prevent people from using them as pieces of evidence against me in the future for any narrative they want to push. If I deleted them without explanation on the pieces themselves, people could very easily say that I was trying to bury my support of the developers, so it best protects me and my online image if I leave them up. However, I'm going to add in an update on all of the pieces in order to link to this journal and state my stance on the game. In addition, I have left the fanbase years ago, so I don't consider myself a fan of the Billie Bust-Up anymore.

In addition, I did back the game on Kickstarter for a total of 50£‎ back in 2022, receiving a digital copy of the game as well as several physical goods including pins and stickers. As far as I'm concerned, my backing of the game was a business transaction made when I couldn't have foreseen what would wind up happening with the game in the future, and so my receiving of, and playing, the game is merely a part of the transaction that I made. I can't honestly recommend to others that they purchase the game or play it for themselves, knowing what I do now, and I wish to clarify any confusion on what may seem to be a double standard to others.

Overall, I don't support the developers of Billie Bust-Up, and any "support" that I show of them is the result of a business transaction that I made years ago.

Hey everyone! We just wanted to announce that the "Home improvement" update for "Oh Deer, Someone's Home" is now live. The door leading to Plaine's basement has been replaced with a laundry room on the same level, we added more flavor text when interacting with parts of the environment, and trying to interact with the door in Plaine's dining room presents a full-screen image similar to what's shown in Plaine's bedroom when interacting with her desk.

Unfortunately, the only thing that is missing at this point is the music. While we believed that we could make the music in Audacity, it wound up being too much trouble for little payoff, so we're going to keep the placeholder music in until we have the money to afford Ableton. Our team has been going through financial struggles even after the game was released, so we're sorry for not using the money that has been collected in order to actually develop the game to completion. We do still intend to update the game further in the future, as needed.

However, now that the only things that the game is missing is its soundtrack, we intend to start on our next project soon. We'll release further information as it becomes available, but we're interested to see how things will go with releasing a slightly bigger (yet still self-contained) game will go. We're excited to see where we're going to go from here, and we thank you for all of the support that you've given us!

Happy Halloween! Its been a while since “Oh Deer, Someone's Home” has come out, and we thank everyone who has downloaded the game and played it. We intend to keep getting the soundtrack implemented, but we decided on a pretty major change that warrants an announcement: Version 2, which we’re calling the “Home Improvement” update.

The biggest change in the home improvement update is that we're filling in Plaine's basement, and turning the old stairwell into a laundry room that the stalker can hide in. The basement had been a sticking point in development, since the stairwell acts like a bottleneck for the stalker and had trapped them in the basement before, but it was decided to replace it with the laundry room so that the stalker has an even more active presence. We're also planning to add more artwork that was supposed to be included in the base launch (like the image you see when you interact with Plaine's desk in her bedroom), but which were cut to prevent burnout, adding more (and more varied) decorative objects in Plaine's house, adding more environmental flavor text, and adding two songs: “Storm,” the song that will play during the actual gameplay, and “Missing You,” a remake of the game over song “Missing.”

The home improvement update is expected to be released before Bec’s birthday, on November 21st.

"Oh Deer, Someone's Home" is finally out of the alpha stage, and we're onto publishing betas! There's still a lot of work that needs to be done going into v0.2, I want to have my private testers send me back videos of their gameplay and give me feedback through text (on top of all of the sprites that still need to be drawn), but I'm excited to finally get out of the bulk of the work I needed to do just to get to a finalization stage!

I'm stepping down from active game dev, with Abyssal Grail being put on hiatus. Getting back into writing has made me recapture my love for it, and I think that the amount of effort game dev solo requires is part of why I keep not finishing anything.

I hate to announce this, but Abyssal Grail is on hiatus. Its been getting way too complex visually for me to keep it as "my first game," so I'm going to work on something smaller in the meantime. Something meant to mock myself, and my standards for game design.

I suppose that you could call it Project Silly.

Is it depressing or not that I've spent an entire year developing an incredibly short game at this point, and yet have nothing to share for its first anniversary in development?

I've now hit my 25th anniversary on Being Alive today.

I already have plans for 3 drawings for October, but I wanted to ask my audience which of my characters would be good for a potential fourth drawing.

So, open poll: Which characters would you like to see drawn for Halloween? (not including Kabo or Abyssal Grail characters)
